Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited (AHEL) and Apollo Foundation have showcased the success of their Total Health model in Aragonda, Andhra Pradesh—a rural healthcare initiative that combines medical care with education, nutrition, safe water, skills and livelihoods. Launched in 2013, the programme has expanded to over 23 locations and reportedly impacted more than 483 million people through Apollo’s community initiatives.

Healthcare Beyond Hospitals
Total Health addresses the wider causes of poor health, not just treatment. It delivers primary care, diagnostics, telemedicine, mobile medical services, cancer screening, free paediatric heart surgeries and long-term follow-up.
The initiative has conducted over 2 lakh yoga sessions, served more than 10.89 lakh nutritious meals and supported rural employment for over 300 women through textile and jute production units.

Advanced Care in Rural India
Apollo Hospitals Aragonda, established in 2000, has served over 1.67 lakh patients and completed more than 12,000 surgeries. It recently marked 1,000 total knee replacement surgeries, including 19 procedures in a single day—bringing specialised orthopaedic care closer to rural communities.

A Blueprint for India
Aragonda demonstrates how prevention, technology, community participation and economic empowerment can create sustainable health outcomes. Apollo positions the model as a replicable blueprint for underserved regions across India.
